Iran Reports Strike on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
