Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
