Football Analyst Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but will the Premier League frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't push football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is now stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple games - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear strong again.

West Ham's only away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno was previously that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side responding?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four matches.

My son advised me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my Fantasy Football squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had much success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite close. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not do that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the only side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I know Sunderland are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the sides who profit from the {international break|
